New Program for families with pre school children

Did you know that there is a definite link between a family who eats meals with their children and the child’s ability to do well at school and curb bad behaviour? Also, a study of teenagers who shared 5 or more meals with one or more parents had higher rates of academic results, adjusted better psychologically, had lower rates of alcohol and drug use, and a lower suicidal risk.

This was taken from a report done by the Department of Psychology at Emory University and complies with many other reports done on the subject. Therefore 4 Korners Family Resource Center has decided to embark on a project called “What’s For Dinner.” Held twice a month these suppers will provide busy families with the opportunity to sit down and have a well planned meal with their family and 4 or 5 other families. Each family will get the opportunity to plan and serve a meal to the rest of the group. A nutritionist will help with the planning and an animator will be on hand to present information and ensure that these sessions are fun and informative. You will learn how to turn a “fast food” meal into a delicious, nutritious meal. In order to participate, you must have at least one child under the age of 5. Space is limited for this program so please call soon. Due to special funding, there is no cost to the participants in this project.

Music and Movement for pre school children Due to the fact that children are exercising less and less these days why not get them off to a good start by participating in this dynamic program.
This program will help parents and children realize that music is another language and another way by which children learn about themselves and others. Children 2 years of age must be accompanied by their parents.
10 sessions – one and a half hours each Cost: $7.00 per session

The program for 3 year olds along with Music and Movement will include a story hour followed by an activity. Parents need not remain on the premises. 10 sessions – 3 hours each Cost: $10.00 per session

Babies On The Go Parent and baby participate in this fun and informative workshop, animated by an experienced leader. The parent gets the opportunity to interact with other parents and babies. The workshop provides a great deal of expert information compiled by a group of Health and Social Service professionals, and gives the parents a chance to share their experience and questions with each other.
10 sessions – 2 hours each - Cost: $10 per session

Drop Off Daycare Give yourself a break and leave your children with experienced and competent caregivers. Potty trained pre-school aged children can be accommodated. We will use a plan – do – review process during activities. 3 hour sessions Cost $10.00
Notice must be given to the Center at least 2 working days before drop off.

Program days will be determined based on the availability of participants.

Happy Friday To finish the week with a fun and easy workshop, some of the moms from 4 Korners have formed a group which meets on Friday afternoons. They would like you to join them at the Center to plan activities and get together for a pleasant afternoon.
