The Great Gray Owl - Chouettes lapones
(Strix Nebulosa)

Patience is a virtue

When the black rectangle appears, mouse over to start

On our second visit, we brought a mouse from the pet shop to see if the owl was hungry. Within seconds, the owl pounced on the little mouse. I didn't even have time to start my video camera. So I only caught the end of the landing and the take off. The whole procedure took less than 20 seconds from perched in tree to back in the tree. The owl then stared us down to see if we had more. I think he was expecting more than a little snack. It's worth the visit and if you have mice that you don't like bring them with you.
