Week #8 - Young Old and Picking Party 26-10-2003
The annual young/old game was almost a complete bust since the Red team old guys could not get over center field for the entire first half. The youngsters scored three touchdowns and maybe a convert to lead either 18 or 19 to nothing. At half time, we were thinking how nice it would be that the mercy rule would let us get into our post-game activities earlier. When we started the second half, the old team woke up. The defence actually looked like defense and we started going upfield. As we went around the second quarterbacking rotation, we started scoring. The Red team's second touchdown came on a controversial 94 yard play. The Young had kicked the Red back to their own 6 yard line. Paul was quarterback and his first play was a pump and fake to Maurice. Maurice caught the ball and ran then passed a lateral to  Rollie to avoid the touch from Mark T. Rollie ran for the touchdown. Of course, the defense called a touch but the ball had left Maurice's hands. After a little bit of a discussion, we were granted the touchdown. Then on the last play of the game, it was 4th and touchdown on the 6 yard line, Maurice threw the ball, and it was intercepted and ran back for the touchdown. Instead of a tie, the final score was 24-12.
After the game, we had to get to more important things like voting for where the Grey Cup Game would be played and picking teams.

Next week - The 39th Annual SOMD Grey Cup
The vote was 11 to 6. The Grey Cup Game will be played in Two Mountains instead of our downtown tradition. There is word from Boston that although they only represent 3 votes, with the exchange, their votes may overturn the decision. If not, this will be the second time in the last 4 years that the game has been in ToMo. The teams are now official although there will be a formal approval process done at the Tartan Pub starting at 4:00pm next Friday. See the slide show for the teams.
