The Grey Cup
Story - November 5, 2005
It was a miracle finish for the White as they trailed 31 - 13 at the end of the
3rd quarter, It looked like Stan Rose's interception for a touchdown late in the
third quarter had buried the White for good. With less than 15 minutes left in
the game, the white team were about to call in the mercy rule. Some players had
even put their cleats away. Then the miracle started happening. First, it was the
4th and long pass from Mark Larose to Mark Thivierge to within a foot of the
touchdown. Then, the one yard touchdown pass to Paul to make the score a little
more respectable. Then, Grey Cup MVP Maurice Beaudin intercepted a pass for a touchdown to
bring the white team to within 6 points. Mark Thivierge then took over at
quarterback with no time remaining an drove the white team into Green team end
zone to tie up the score. Then came the Hail Mary convert pass to Joey
Fitzmorris who finally caught a ball after putting his cleats back on. Final
Score 32-31. The Grey Cup game with the most points scored since the early
nineties. There will be more pictures posted when I receive them from Mike Curtis.
Here is a picture of the losing team for now.
Week #6 - The
SOMD Colours Change
22-10-2005
As the season winds
down to the Grey Cup, the new 40th anniversary shirt were unveiled the same week
that Tartan Pub donated white t-shirts to the league. The weather was great and
the after food was excellent thanks to Gary Nixon's surprise sausage and shrimp
dishes. Click the picture for a few actions shots.
Week #7 - The
Best Old Performance Ever
30-10-2005
Probably the best
young old game in history was played on Saturday. The Young started quickly by
intercepting the third play of the game and scoring a touchdown with a couple of
good plays. At that point it looked like the old team was about to be taken to
the cleaners. Little did we know that this would be the last points that the
young would be able to muster. The Old got in gear and scored on their second,
third and fourth possessions to bring the score to 20-6 at the half. There was
not one incompletion during those three touchdown drives The Old added another
in the second half and the game ended on a final interception in the end zone by
Earl Macdonald. Final score 26-6 over the heavily favoured young team. Next week
is the climax of the season.
