Wow, wow, wow!!!  What a perfect weekend.   I am just now feeling a little revived, after all the celebrating.  This started as a one-night thing but stretched to five nights for me and up to ten nights, for some.  Lots of us had friends visiting and I know how much fun it was.  Having Cathy Lucey and DeeDee LeDrew staying over the weekend at my house was the icing on the cake, for me.  We laughed so hard, our bladders nearly burst!

I would like to thank all of those who worked on the Pit Party.  Also, a big thanks to all of you who attended.  Some came from far away and we all really appreciated it.  A party is only as good as the guests and you all made it a tremendous success.

In that crazy invitation that Paul made up, he said that it was « A weekend party, designed to see if  us old farts still have the party spirit » , and we do.   We can still party on, with the best of them and we did.

The food was excellent, it was served on time and there was plenty.  A big hand to the caterers.

The travelling cake, donated by Sandi Scott was fabulous.  Thanks, Sandi!

Earl’s music was right on.  Any party that only ends way after last-call is a real success.  I think Garold had to sweep the last few revellers out of there.  And one of them was « The Kung-Fu Fighter ».  (Thank goodness she was able to get her luggage back or  we could have been blinded by the view.)

Great ventilation, Garold.  Even the non-smokers thought we were in the non-smoking section all evening.

The girls behind the bar really had their work cut out for them.  They looked as cool and fresh at the end of the night as they did at the start, even though they worked so hard.  Under the sharp eyes of Dianne Murray and Garold Nixon the refreshments along with lots of smiles, were served efficiently, all evening long.    Diane, you were the « hostess with the mostest ».  You looked perfect in your little black dress.  I watched you, watching to make sure everything was running smooth.  Your special touch was evident everywhere.

The « tekillya » was flowing (has anyone got a match?) but everyone is still alive, including our fabulous Webmaster. And the Webmaster is still at work – no rest for the wicked, they say!  Hey, Paul and Myrna, thanks for getting back to join us.  It wasn’t easy for you guys but you did it!

Some of the organizing committee members (Casey, Alana, Karen & Elaine)went above and beyond the call of duty, going to the Senior Men’s Club and preparing breakfast at 7 :00am and cleaning up, until 1 :00 o’clock in the afternoon.  I really have to hand it to them.  They really were troopers.  They certainly proved that they have stamina.  Thanks a bunch!

Many old friendships were rekindled and promises made to keep in touch.  I’m sure those promises will be kept, no matter what.

This GREAT BIG THANK YOU is for Casey Stevenson, Alicia Stevenson, Alana Stevenson, Karen Rose, Paul Goyetche and Dianne Nixon, who are PERMANENT PIT PARTY ORGANIZING COMMITTEE MEMBERS, in good standing, after attending regular committee meetings.

Thanks to the committee, this get-together of "old" friends and "old farts" is on its way to being a great success.  Everyone on our committee has been friendly, co-operative and helpful.  Nothing seems to be too much trouble, whether it be searching for someone who we've lost contact with, e-mailing and phoning one-and-all, finding accommodations, putting together the "tunes" list, organizing activities, whatever it may be.  Our "Webmaster Paul" is a magician!!!  We've got a website that's "outta sight".  What a committee!

I must say that it has been an honour and a privilege being "Pam Pierre, Permanent Pit Party President".  I have never headed up a committee of such consistently co-operative, completely committed, comically crazy committee members, in my life.  Dianne and Garrold have been "key" in getting this Pit Party together - providing the venue, the caterer, the financial aspect, the tickets, etc.,etc.

It has been more than great working together and I'm looking forward to being all together again at our Committee Members' Pre-Pit Party Party and BBQ, at the Nixon's.
