Wyder Cup 10-Man Shoot Out
A new (optional) event has been added this year as we have the course for our exclusive use on Saturday
Here is how it works. First you take out $15US from your wallet We will make as many groups of
10 as we can by putting 'like' handicaps together. We will then draw numbers from 1 to 10 to determine the honors. This is the order that will be used on each tee. Number 1 will always go first and 10 will always be last off the tee until eliminated. Number 1 will be the group captain. To accelerate play afterwards we will be playing ready golf until all the ball are on the green. Once all the balls are on the green, the furthest ball from the hole will be first to be putted. The player will putt out as we don't want people marking and re-marking the balls. When the ball goes in, the player will call out his score so that everyone hears and agrees. There will be people stepping on people's lines. Live with it. The person with the highest score will be eliminated (but wait for the twist). If more than 1 player has the highest score, they will shoot-out to see who get eliminated. The group captain will roll the shootout die and that will determine the shot. If a sand shot is required and there is no trap around the green, an approach shot will be taken. The order of shooting is by your number. All the players in the shootout will face away from the person shooting and someone will mark the ball inconspicuously before the next player turns around to shoot. The furthest player will be eliminated. As you may have figured, the game will last 9 holes as only 2 'teams' will be left on the 9th hole. If a group has fewer than 10 players we will have either non elimination holes or the chance to buy back in if eliminated. After 5 holes have been played, there will be 5 players eliminated. The twist: These 5 players will re-enter the game and be randomly partnered with the remaining 5 players and they will play a 2 ball scramble (Vegas) for the remaining 4 holes. If a shoot out is required both players will try the shoot out shot. At the end of the game, the winner of the shoot out will receive $80 and his partner (the guy who got eliminated in the first 5 holes) will get $40. The runners up will receive $20 and $10. Please no, splitting of prize money for the final 2 pairs as we want to make the final hole mean something. The different groups will end on different holes but we may choose the same hole for every group to finish on. That will depend on time and logistics. This is a very fun golf game and this way at least you are guaranteed to play 2 holes. |
