Sunday March 15th ~1:00pm
St Anne's Veterans' Annual Visit

On Sunday March 15th 2009 we had the honour once again of having 22 Veterans from Ste Anne’s hospital spend a wonderful afternoon with us.
The day was a great success thanks to Comrade Daniel Dion and all the branch members and volunteers who came out to support the event.
The Veterans were entertained by the group Midnight Stage along with the Moran Academy Irish Dancers and the Gut Bucket Band.
They were served a delicious lunch of Turkey a la King followed by cake and coffee prepared by our very own branch chefs Joanne Dicaire and Rene Cusson along with all the volunteers in the kitchen. Over 90 meals were served in all.
Before getting on the bus to go back to the hospital they were all given a beautiful Legion blanket.
We also had the honour and pleasure of installing Mr. Arsenault to our branch. A big welcome to Mr. Arsenault to Branch 185!
Many of the vets mentioned that they were already looking forward to their visit next year! And we look forward to having them all return.

Ice Fishing Tournament

On February 28th Branch 185 held its first annual ice fishing tournament to raise money for the vets day dinner.
This being the first attempt, the Legion had an excellent turnout.
They raised over $500.00 and also raised over $100 with a 50/50 draw for the kids Christmas party.

20 adults entered the tournament along with 5 children. The day ended with a spaghetti supper, followed by trophies to the winners of the Tournament along with door prizes. A total of 85 meals were served. Everyone had a great time and it was an all around successful family day.

A special thank you to René Cusson and all the volunteers. Donations were made by RCL Branch 185, Poulet Dore, Boni Soir, Canadian Tire, Ville de Deux Montagnes, IGA, Giant Tiger, Eclipse as well as many anonymous donations. Without these people and all who donated this event could not have been such a success. Hats of to Rene and his team!

Legion 185 Presents $3000 to St-Anne's Hospital Recreation Services

On Sunday October 26, 2008, Legion Branch 185 was proud to present the money raised by the 185 softball team headed by Michael Neville. This money was raised at the August 23rd softball tournament and with a drawing for two ViA Rail passes following the tournament. This money goes to the St-Anne's Recreation Services Patient Trust Fund and will be used to help pay for services such as Zoo Therapy and entertainment for the residents of Saint Anne's. Micheline St-Germain was very happy to accept this money on behalf of the residents. She also gave us a tour of the new wing of the hospital as well a tour of the transformation of the rooms in the tower part of the hospital. There are still a few years to go in the renovation but the improvement is truly amazing. Thanks to every who donated to help the softball team raise the great amount of money.
