Introduction Welcome to our Prince Edward Island / Iles de la Madeleine excursion. This trip was more or less a last minute decision because we always do at least one trip a year at this time of year. Usually it's an 'exotic' destination like South Africa or last year great Ireland trip. This year, due to what is happening around the world and the delays at airports, we decided to keep it simple and avoid air travel. That may be for the fall, we'll see. We also usually leave at the end of April but since we are staying 'local', we decided to leave a bit later to have the weather warm up a little and of course, if you are aware of our travel preferences, we like to travel off season or at least shoulder season. Our basic Itinerary is to drive to Rimouski on day 1, Make our way down to Shediac NB on Day 2 to be near P.E.I. Then we would spend the next 6 days in PEI and since we were already in PEI, why not take the ferry to les Iles de la Madeleine and stay there also for 6 days. Then we will make our way back. What were we thinking? We left Two-Mountains at 10am on our 47th wedding anniversary on a day where the temperature was to climb to 30c. Our destination for our first day was Rimouski where the high was barely 10 degrees and very windy and lots of rain.
And look below for the forecast of the weather in PEI for the next week.
It doesn't get any better the following week in the Magdalan Islands either. Well we will try to make the most out of it. We brought lots of warm clothes except we forgot our hiking gloves which I am sure we will need. Unless the weather really turns around, I can't imagine taking that many pictures and the windy conditions may make drone filming next to impossible. We will definitely be seeing some interesting sights but perhaps not in the best of lights.
