WARD Robert James January 19th 1951- August 24th, 2008 Our beloved Bob (Rob, Robert) passed away peacefully on the morning of August 24th in the arms of the love of his life Rita with his two favorite boys, Jeff and Nathan, close by. True to his character he fought on to the end and never let the cancer take him. He was blessed to be surrounded by family and his many friends that he held so dear. In his final days, he was alert and humorous with his spirit amazingly strong. Born on January 19th, 1951 in St-Eustache Quebec, Bob was a man of integrity, honesty and committed to his word and those he loved. He and Rita shared a deep love that extended to Jeff and Nathan. He was a wonderful husband, father-figure, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, much loved by all those in his life. Bob was a special friend to all who had the privilege to know him, generous with his heart, his time, his energy and his advice. He was a hard worker who had a passion for golf, travel and his friends which he combined to create wonderful memories. His special place was the beautiful lakeside in Oliver that he and Rita shared. Bob was predeceased by his dad, Paul James Ward, his step-dad, William Proudfoot and his mom Gwen Proudfoot (nee Jones Ward). He is survived by his brother Doug. The family would like to thank Dr. Dyment, Dr Melosky, Gerard Tam and Inspired Health for their special care and support. A celebration of his life will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby Thursday August 28th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers the family would be honored if you would donate, in Bob's name, to the BC and Yukon Cancer Foundation or the charity of your choice.
