An Asterisk beside your name indicates that you are playing in Hard Mode. Which
means: Any revealed hints must be used in subsequent guesses.
A grey square on your
score means I didn't get your
email and therefore gave you the worst score plus one. If I get your email in
time, I
will adjust the score accordingly.
Some people's emails are not getting through sometimes, so I will correct for
that too.
Not using the starting proper word will result in a 2 stroke penalty.

** The difficulty
of each puzzle is determined by averaging the number of guesses provided
by a small panel of testers who are paid to solve each puzzle in advance
to help New York Times catch any issues and inconsistencies. They add a
score of 7 when testers do not complete the puzzle.
Difficulty only appears the next day with the NYT solution.
