#3 - Another Great Day
on the Field 21-09-2003
On Saturday, September 20th, Jamie tried his best to pick a crappy team by wasting his first pick on Joey Noshow after being assured that he was coming. Anyway, Jamie's White team pull together to eventually dominate the game. The score was 7-6 Red for a long time, but eventually the White came through with a touchdown and iced the victory with a late fourth quarter touchdown. Isabel did not cause any real havoc as despite some strong gust, this was one of the nicest days we have ever played on. We needed to refill our beer supply as some people remained on the field until 5:30. We also had a one game wonder in the person of Jean, who said he won't be playing again because the running is aggrevating an old injury. The corn roast was great although the water took a while to boil. No pictures this week, sorry.
Week #2 - Another Retired SOMD Returns 14-09-2003
On Saturday, September 13th, Tom Griffin was the second player to come out of retirement this year as the players of the SOMD touch football came back to their home field to play Game Two of the regular season. Rollie Fiset and Paul Goyetche were captains and although Rollie got first pick, the Red team dominated the game and won 25-7. It was a banner day for the Red captain with 3 interceptions including a rare interception on the rush against John Griffin. Height was definitely a factor in this game as latecomer Stephane Chibok was assigned to the Red team that already had the long reach of Joey and Gary Mac. The Red team, although 472 years old really took it to the young ones.
The Smoked Meat was definitely the highlight of the day for the White Team. The other White team highlight was Mike Benk's drive to score the White's only touchdown. The Red touchdowns were scored by Ray Lapointe, Paul Goyetche, Stephane Chibok and someone else.
The SOMD's enjoy some real smoked meat that Les grew in his backyard.
